At Reliance's AGM on 1st September '16, Mukesh Ambani announced the commercial launch of Reliance Jio. The tariffs are likely to shake up the entire telecom sector in India. Although analysts are already questioning the revenue model and profitability of this new player, it's a win-win situation for the customers.

Voice calls will be free forever and 4g data charges, claimed to be the cheapest in the world will be about 1/10th of what the competitors are charging. All jio services including voice, apps, and 4G LTE data would be available free of cost to everyone from September 5 to December 31, 2016.

Mukesh Ambani said that the customers should pay only for one service- that is either voice or data because world over, operators charge only for data, while voice and messaging are essentially free.Plans start from 19 and go up to 5,000 depending on the amount of data and validity. The entire Jio plans list, including the ones that were not announced at the event, are as follows:

Further, students will get about 25% bonus data, if they have a valid id while signing up for Jio. Also, Jio suite of applications providing services like movie streaming, music, money, live Tv etc worth 15,000 for a annual subscription, would be free for all the Jio users until December 2017.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge-A good mix of old and new 'innovations' by Sammy

After a month full of leaks and rumours, the flagship twins from Samsung finally arrive.Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are not a huge improvement over their predecessors in terms of their design language.Samsung is taking the "why fix it if it ain't broke" approach as the design on the previous S series phones were pretty good.Other than that,Samsung has made a few incremental improvements in cameras and of course, the performance along with bringing back some of the popular features. So,what's new? Samsung has 'innovated' by going back in time and bringing back features like expandable storage along with IP68 dust and water resistance capability ala Samsung Galaxy S5.Bringing back the expandable storage options, might have brought smiles on the faces of the reviewers and fans alike who were quite disappointed by the lack of sd card support in their predecessors. The great thing is that Samsung has brought these utility features without compromising on th...

Google sides US and bans Huawei

Google has just released a statement that they will be banning Huawei's license to use Android immediately as it must compile to US Laws. This is a hugh blow to the Chinese smartphone maker which has already become the 3rd largest smartphone maker in the world, on the back of some solid smartphones.  Speaking to  Reuters , a Google spokesperson confirmed that “Google Play and the security protections from Google Play Protect will continue to function on existing Huawei devices.” This means while the current smartphones should receive updates, the future is surely uncertain for Huawei. The decision might leave Huawei to choose Open source version of Android, called AOSP for its devices which is devoid of any google sevices and which usually recieves the security updates much later than Android. Huawei might also contemplate launching its own OS, incase matters get worse.  It is very sad to see politics getting involved in tech industry. Other famed compa...

LeEco Le 1s Review - After a month's use

LeEco(or Letv as it was formally called) launched its first two smartphones in India in the beginning of February this year. Some people may look at it as just another Chinese company trying to make inroads in India but, to be frank LeEco is slightly different as it is one of the first or maybe only Chinese company to follow the concept of creating an ecosystem of products called-Le Ecosystem(hence, the name change). Now coming to the smartphone i.e the Le 1s,company seems to have created quite a good product to performance ratio with its Inr 10,999 price tag, here in India. So,let's find out if it is any good. Build & Design As far as build goes I can quite easily say that it's one of the first smartphones in India to sport a metallic unibody build at a budget price. Yes,now there are phones like the Huawei honor 5x and the Redmi Note 3 but this one seems to be the best as far as build goes. In design department,LeEco further stamps its authority with a symmetrically d...
