Messaging Service WhatsApp will start sharing the data associated with your WhatsApp phone number with its parent company, Facebook. This data will then be used by Facebook to target you with 'relevant ads' and provide you a more personalised Facebook experience.
This announcement comes despite repeated assurances from WhatsApp that users' data will always remain private. This has irked many users that some of their most personal information could potentially be used by Facebook, to make more money from advertisers. The good news is that, there is a way to opt out of this.
